Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad is celebrating his 79th birthday today in the company of family members, with photographs of the occasion shared widely on social media by his children and party leaders.
Lalu marked the occasion by cutting a birthday cake during a family gathering attended by his wife, former chief minister Rabri Devi, and other members of the family.
Images shared online showed Rabri Devi feeding cake to Lalu Prasad during the celebration.
Tejashwi Shares Photos Of Celebration
Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, shared photographs of the birthday celebrations on social media platform X.
The images captured moments from the family gathering, including Lalu Prasad with Rabri Devi, Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti and other relatives.
RJD workers and supporters also extended greetings to the party founder, who remains one of the most influential figures in Bihar politics.
Emotional Tributes From Family Members
Lalu Prasad’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, posted a message describing himself as fortunate to be his father’s son and credited him with shaping his values and outlook on life.
In his message, Tej Pratap said his father had taught him perseverance, respect for others and the importance of remaining strong during difficult times. He added that whatever he had achieved in life was a result of his father’s guidance, blessings and values.
Tejashwi also extended birthday wishes through social media, sharing photographs from the celebration and expressing his affection for his father.
Meanwhile, Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya posted an emotional tribute, thanking her father for his support and guidance throughout her life.
In her message, she said he had stood by her during difficult times, taught her resilience and remained a source of strength and inspiration. She also wished him good health, happiness and a long life.

Lalu Prasad, one of Bihar’s most prominent political figures, has remained at the centre of the state’s political discourse for decades.
Founder of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and former chief minister of Bihar, he continues to wield considerable influence within the party and among its support base despite being away from active governance.
