Patna: The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) marked Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at its state headquarters in Patna, led by party president and Union minister Chirag Paswan.
Paswan extended greetings to the people of Bihar and the nation, before addressing criticism from the opposition over the reported removal of 6.5 million names from the state’s electoral rolls. He said the names may have been deleted due to reasons such as migration, death or duplication across constituencies. He assured that those affected would have the opportunity to re-enrol.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech from the Red Fort, Paswan said it reinforced the vision of a “developed India”. He also paid tribute to the martyrs of the independence movement, describing the day as one to honour their sacrifices.
