Patna: Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal inspected the ongoing Mithapur-Chiraiyatar flyover project in Patna and directed officials and contractors to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Accompanied by departmental engineers and technical staff, Pal reviewed the progress of the approach roads and service lanes being constructed to connect the Mithapur flyover with the Chiraiyatar flyover through Karbigahiya.
During the inspection, he warned against any delay or negligence in the execution of the project and instructed officials to ensure full compliance with prescribed safety measures at the construction site.
Project Progress Reviewed
The flyover corridor is being developed from R-Block Roundabout through GPO Roundabout, Mithapur Roundabout and Karbigahiya Station to Kankarbagh, aiming to improve traffic movement across key parts of the city.

According to department officials, the project is being constructed at a cost of Rs 292.74 crore and has a total length of 1,730 metres.
Foundation work has been completed, while around 70 per cent of the sub-structure, super-structure and approach road construction has been finished. Work is progressing in accordance with prescribed engineering standards, officials said.
First Phase Targeted for July Completion
The department has set a target to complete the first phase of the project, stretching from GPO Roundabout to the Old Bus Stand, by July.
The entire flyover project is expected to be completed by December 2026.
Pal instructed engineers to identify and resolve potential obstacles before the onset of the monsoon season to ensure that construction activities continue without disruption.

Expected to Ease Congestion in Central Patna
Officials said the project is intended to modernise Patna’s road network and reduce congestion in some of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.
Once completed, the flyover is expected to provide relief from persistent traffic congestion near Karbigahiya Station and improve connectivity between different parts of the capital.
The project will also strengthen links with the newly constructed Mithapur-Mahuli flyover, creating a smoother route for heavy vehicles entering Patna. In addition, the corridor will provide direct connectivity from Mithapur Golambar to the NH-30 bypass, enabling outbound and inter-city traffic to avoid congested inner-city roads.
Department officials said the project is expected to play a key role in improving traffic flow and reducing travel time for commuters across Patna.
