Motihari: A very tragic road accident took place in Motihari, Bihar, on Sunday morning. A speeding truck suddenly ran over people standing on the roadside and also crushed several motorcycles parked there. The accident happened near the Dipu turn in the Kotwa block. Five people died on the spot and more than 12 others were badly injured. The accident shocked everyone in the area, and many people who witnessed it could not believe what had happened within seconds.
According to local people, some residents were standing on the road divider waiting to cross when the truck approached at very high speed. Without slowing down, the driver hit the people and their motorcycles. The impact was so strong that many bikes got trapped under the truck’s wheels. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police reached the area soon after, sent the bodies for post-mortem and shifted the injured to the hospital. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
The accident created huge anger among villagers nearby. Soon after the incident, people gathered in large numbers and blocked the road to protest. They demanded the arrest of the truck driver and strict action against reckless driving. Villagers said that heavy vehicles often drive very fast on this road, which has led to many accidents in the past. They urged the administration to set up speed control systems and monitor the movement of trucks and buses to prevent further tragedies.
To handle the situation, police officers from several police stations reached the spot and tried to calm the crowd. They assured the villagers that the incident would be investigated seriously. Police have seized the truck involved in the accident and are searching for the driver who escaped. The administration has also said that it will take the concerns of the villagers seriously and look into ways to improve traffic safety. For now, the whole area remains in grief as families mourn the loss of their loved ones and others hope for the recovery of the injured.
