Muzaffarpur: Panic spread across the Muzaffarpur Civil Court complex on Thursday after authorities received a bomb threat via email, prompting an immediate security response and evacuation of the premises.
Officials said a suspicious message was sent around 11:30am to the district judge’s official email account, claiming that an explosive device had been planted within the court complex.
Following the alert, police and administrative teams swiftly moved to evacuate lawyers, staff and visitors from the complex, A security cordon was established, and judicial proceedings were temporarily suspended as a precaution.
Advocate Subodh Kumar Jha said that information about the disruption was circulated through messaging groups, informing legal practitioners that court work would remain suspended in the first half of the day, with filing expected to resume later.
“When I reached the office, it was locked and everyone was being asked to leave,” he said, adding that such incidents had become a growing concern in the state.
Police officials confirmed that the threat was being taken seriously. Suresh Kumar, a deputy superintendent of police, said bomb disposal and dog squads had been deployed to conduct thorough searches across the complex
“An intensive search operation is underway. So far, no suspicious object has been found, but all aspects are being closely monitored,” he said.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumours while security checks continue.
In recent months, similar threats targeting courts in various districts of Bihar have raised concerns among security agencies, prompting heightened vigilance across judicial complexes.
