Patna: Bihar chief minister Samrat Chaudhary has welcomed the Centre’s approval to upgrade the 82.578km Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi-Sonbarsa section to four-lane standards, describing the project as a boost for connectivity and economic activity in North Bihar.
CM Samrat expressed his gratitude to prime minister Narendra Modi after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the project, which will cost an estimated Rs 3,590.73 crore.
The project will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
Boost for North Bihar connectivity
CM Samrat said the upgraded road would provide safer and smoother travel for residents of Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Sonbarsa, while improving connectivity across North Bihar.
He said the improved road infrastructure would facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and strengthen trade and commercial activity in the region.
The project is also expected to create employment and economic opportunities and improve connectivity in areas close to Bihar’s international border.

Government links project to wider development push
CM Samrat said infrastructure development in Bihar was being strengthened under the central government’s leadership.
He described the four-laning project as an important step towards accelerating development in the state and contributing to the broader objective of building a developed Bihar.
