Patna: Bihar’s road construction minister, Nitin Nabin, has instructed officials to submit within a week a detailed list of infrastructure projects scheduled for completion over the next 100 days, emphasising strict adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on projects announced during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent Pragati Yatra, Naveen said the department must work “at double pace” to accelerate infrastructure development across the state. Senior officials, including departmental secretary Sandeep R Pudkalkatti and special secretary Shirshit Kapil, as well as chief engineers, attended the review.
Nabin said robust road connectivity is fundamental to Bihar’s economic and social progress and insisted that any compromise on construction quality would not be tolerated. He warned that strict action would be taken against contractors or agencies found negligent.
The minister directed the OPRMC wing to intensify maintenance and asset management and demanded both a 100-day completion plan and an additional list of projects scheduled for delivery within a year. He ordered immediate intervention in schemes showing slow progress and called for enhanced monitoring at the ground level.
Nabin said the primary aim of the review was to assess the status of road, bridge and connectivity projects highlighted during the Pragati Yatra and to outline future priorities. He also instructed officials to act on direct feedback from the public received during the chief minister’s tour.
During the meeting, officials reported that several works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and other state and district road schemes were advancing rapidly, with additional resources being directed to districts where progress had previously stalled.
Nabin said the Pragati Yatra has introduced more transparency and urgency to development processes, and pledged that Bihar’s road network would become “more robust and convenient” in the coming months. “Improving road infrastructure is in the public interest,” he said, asserting that the state government remains committed to delivering better connectivity for all citizens.
