Rajgir: Nalanda University took part in an international conference in Moscow focused on strengthening India–Russia relations, as policymakers and academics explored new avenues of cooperation in a shifting global landscape.
The conference, titled “Russia and India: Towards a New Bilateral Agenda”, was jointly organised by the Russian International Affairs Council and the Embassy of India in Moscow. It brought together a range of stakeholders to discuss strategies for deepening bilateral engagement across sectors.
Nalanda University’s vice chancellor, Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, addressed the gathering via video conferencing, emphasising the long-standing ties between India and Russia. He called for the development of new frameworks of cooperation through platforms such as BRICS, with a focus on clean energy, digital technologies and improved connectivity to address trade imbalances.

Representing the university in Moscow, Dr Pranshu Samdarshi, a faculty member at the School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religion, participated in a panel discussion on cultural cooperation.
The session examined opportunities to expand collaboration in areas including art, music, creative industries and cultural heritage. Samdarshi highlighted the role of Buddhist heritage as a shared civilisational link between India and Russia, suggesting it could serve as a foundation for strengthening cultural diplomacy.
