Nawada: Two minor girls from Nawada district, Bihar, have been found after fleeing to Surat, Gujarat, where they married each other and lived for a month with a third girl acting as a “brother-in-law.”
According to police, the three girls, all friends and students from the Akbarpur block area, left home on July 19, telling their families they were going to collect marksheets. They travelled to Surat, rented a room, and began working in a textile factory. During this time, two of them—identified as Aarti and Jyoti (names changed)—married each other. The third girl, Komal (name changed), stayed with them.
Aarti told police that she had feelings for Jyoti from the beginning and decided to live with her permanently. Fearing rejection from their families and community, they chose to leave home.
The families searched for two days before filing a missing persons report at Nemdarganj police station on July 21. Working with Surat police, officers traced the girls to a factory in Patel Nagar and brought them back. Their statements are now being recorded in court under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code before further legal steps are taken.
