Patna: The managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited, Rahul Kumar, carried out a detailed inspection of major power facilities in Siwan district on Thursday. He visited the 132/33 kV grid sub-station and the 33/11 kV power sub-station at Siwan (Old) to review how electricity is being managed and delivered in the area. The visit was aimed at checking both the technical condition of the equipment and the safety arrangements in place for workers and the public.
During the inspection, Kumar carefully reviewed the maintenance work being done on the power transformers and studied their load profiles, which show how much electricity each unit is handling. He reminded officials that transformers should never be overloaded, as this can lead to failures, power cuts and even dangerous accidents. He made it clear that regular checks and timely repairs are essential to ensure that electricity continues to flow smoothly, especially in a growing district like Siwan where demand is increasing every year.
A special focus of the visit was safety inside the sub-stations. Near the main gate, a “Wall of Safety” board has been installed, displaying important rules and instructions that must be followed before entering the high-voltage area. Kumar appreciated this initiative, calling it a simple but effective way to remind workers about the risks involved. He directed that such safety boards should be made mandatory in all grid and power sub-stations across Bihar so that everyone, from engineers to visitors, is aware of the basic precautions.
Kumar also instructed staff to strictly follow standard operating procedures while carrying out maintenance on power lines, sub-stations and other equipment. He said that proper record-keeping, including updated registers and logs, is necessary for transparency and quick action during emergencies. Before leaving, he planted saplings in the sub-station premises, highlighting the importance of environmental protection even in industrial and technical spaces. His visit sent a clear message that a strong power system is built not only on machines, but also on safety, discipline and care for the environment.
