Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted raids at two locations in Bihar as part of a nationwide crackdown on an alleged terror network linked to Pakistan-based operatives.
The searches were carried out simultaneously at 12 locations across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra. According to the agency, the operation is linked to an ongoing investigation into suspected terror activities, funding channels and cross-border networks.
In Bihar, raids were reportedly conducted in the Pethia area. However, the NIA has not issued an official statement identifying the exact locations or individuals targeted during the operation.
Probe Linked to Pakistan-Based Operative
Sources said the investigation is connected to Pakistan-based operative Jasvir Chaudhary and his alleged Indian associates. Investigative agencies are examining suspected links between operatives within India and handlers operating from across the border.
Officials suspect that the network was involved in facilitating the movement of weapons, ammunition and explosive materials into India.
Weapons Allegedly Smuggled Using Drones
According to inputs received by security agencies, consignments containing weapons, ammunition and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were allegedly smuggled across the India-Pakistan border using drones.
The agency believes these consignments were intended for use in planned terror activities, including possible bomb blasts in cities such as Delhi and locations in Punjab.
As part of the investigation, the NIA expanded its searches to Bihar to examine possible local contacts and support networks linked to the case.
Digital Evidence Seized
During the raids, NIA teams seized mobile phones, electronic devices, documents and other digital evidence from the premises searched.
Officials said the recovered material is being analysed to trace funding routes, communication records and operational planning connected to the alleged terror module.
Investigation Underway
The agency stated that further investigation is underway based on information gathered during the searches. Officials are also examining whether the network had additional modules or logistical support systems operating in different parts of the country.
No arrests had been officially announced at the time of publication.
