Patna: Nishant Kumar, a leader of the Janata Dal (United), is set to begin a statewide tour of Bihar in May, as the party steps up efforts to expand its grassroots outreach ahead of key political developments.
Party officials said preparations for the tour are under way, with a detailed roadmap expected to be finalised at the upcoming national executive committee meeting later this month. The meeting will determine the structure of the tour, including its phases, district coverage and the roles assigned to party leaders.
Kumar is expected to travel across multiple districts alongside party workers, engaging directly with residents and local cadres. The tour will focus on village-level interactions, with an emphasis on strengthening the party’s organisational network and addressing public concerns.
In recent months, Kumar has repeatedly underlined the importance of taking the government’s development agenda to the people, particularly initiatives carried out under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. He has also stressed the need for direct engagement with citizens to better understand and resolve their grievances.
Sources within the party said Kumar had expressed interest in undertaking a statewide tour soon after formally joining the organisation. The planned tour is seen as an attempt to translate that intention into a structured political campaign.
Further details, including the districts to be covered in each phase, are expected to be announced once the executive committee finalises the plan.
Separately, the NDA government led by chief minister Samrat Choudhary is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly on April 24. A one-day session of the 18th legislative assembly has been convened for the purpose, with proceedings set to begin at 11am. Preparations for the session, including security and seating arrangements, are currently under way.
