Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 4,954 newly recruited auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs), saying the move would strengthen Bihar’s healthcare system, ahead of his scheduled visit to Delhi to assume his Rajya Sabha membership.
The ceremony was held at Urja Auditorium in Shastri Nagar, Patna, where the chief minister symbolically handed appointment letters to select candidates, including Vinita Kumari, Swati Kumari and Roshni Kumari.
Focus on strengthening healthcare
Congratulating the recruits, Nitish said ANMs play a critical role in delivering primary healthcare services, particularly in maternal and child health, immunisation and disease prevention.
In a post on social media platform X, he said the recruitment would help ensure “safe, high-quality and reliable healthcare facilities” reach every part of the state.
Officials said the appointments are part of efforts to expand frontline healthcare capacity and improve service delivery across rural and urban areas.
