Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar distributed appointment letters to more than 5,000 candidates on compassionate grounds at a ceremony in Patna on Tuesday, urging them to serve with “honesty and full devotion”.
A total of 5,353 people received their appointment letters, including 4,835 clerks and 518 attendants for secondary and higher secondary schools. The event, held at Samvad, was attended by deputy chief ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, education minister Sunil Kumar, and additional chief secretary of the education department S Siddharth.

CM Nitish told the candidates that their appointments were “not just a job but an opportunity to serve” and asked them to accept the letters “with a smile”. His remarks, delivered during the distribution ceremony, were met with a light-hearted atmosphere.
Education minister Sunil Kumar said the process of compassionate appointments had been pending for a long time and credited the chief minister for pushing it through the cabinet. He added that such appointments would also be extended to district levels in the near future.
Additional chief secretary S Siddharth noted that the initiative was intended not only to strengthen the education system but also to support families in need across Bihar.
