Patna: Former minister Nagmani and retired IPS officer Anand Mishra formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday in a ceremony at the party’s state office, signalling a consolidation of the ruling coalition in Bihar. The event was attended by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and senior leader Vijay Sinha, who welcomed the new members.
Addressing the gathering, Jaiswal said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remained “the need of Bihar” and praised the new entrants for embracing the party’s developmental agenda. Speaking about Anand Mishra, he added: “Our aim is not merely to contest elections; it is to take the BJP ideology to the people. We also aim to give them respect.”
Nagmani, a seasoned politician, vowed his lifelong commitment to the BJP, stating that he would “live and die” in the party. Criticising opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, he accused them of misleading voters in regions such as Magadh and Shahabad. “I will put my heart and soul into ensuring the NDA secures 90 percent of votes in these areas,” he said.
Anand Mishra, who has long admired the BJP, emphasised his focus on strengthening the party rather than seeking an electoral ticket. “I have not come for any election issue or for a ticket. I have come only to strengthen the BJP. As long as I live, I will work for this party and for Bihar,” he said. Mishra described the day as a significant milestone in his post-retirement political journey, reiterating his belief that Bihar and India’s progress are intertwined with the BJP’s strength.
