Patna: A short film documenting the 20-year political tenure of former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar was launched on Thursday at the Janata Dal (United) office in Patna, drawing senior party leaders and marking a rare public appearance by his son, Nishant Kumar.
Titled Mera Neta, Mera Abhiman (My Leader, My Pride), the film traces Nitish’s governance record and key initiatives over two decades. A song dedicated to him was also released during the event.
Among those present was senior JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary, who became visibly emotional during the programme. As he broke down while speaking about Nitish, Nishant Kumar was seen consoling him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Addressing party workers, Nishant Kumar said his priority was to strengthen the party organisation and seek public support. He highlighted his father’s contributions to Bihar’s development over the past two decades and pledged to work towards fulfilling his “unfinished dreams”.
Choudhary described his association with Nitish Kumar as deeply meaningful, calling him not just a chief minister but a “guardian figure”. He said Nitish’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha was personal, while expressing a wish that he had continued in office longer to further advance Bihar’s development.
The event also marked Nishant Kumar’s first interaction with the media following the formation of the new government in the state. He arrived at the JD(U) office in the afternoon to a warm welcome from party workers.
During the programme, Choudhary congratulated Vijay Choudhary on assuming the role of deputy chief minister and extended his best wishes to Samrat Choudhary, expressing hope that he would guide Bihar in a new direction.
Nishant Kumar referred to Samrat Choudhary as an “elder brother” and said both he and his father fully support him, signalling continuity within the party as it navigates a new political phase.
