Patna: Nitish Kumar on Thursday pledged his full support to the incoming government after stepping down as Chief Minister of Bihar, emphasising continuity in development and governance.
In his first statement following the resignation, Nitish Kumar said the new government would have his “full support and guidance”, expressing confidence that the state would continue on its development path.
Reflecting on his tenure, he noted that the NDA government first came to power in Bihar on November 24, 2005, and since then efforts had been made to strengthen law and order and ensure inclusive development.
He said the government worked for all sections of society, including Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward and extremely backward classes, Dalits and Mahadalits. According to him, progress was made across sectors such as education, healthcare, roads, electricity and agriculture, along with focused initiatives for women and youth.
Nitish Kumar also referred to the “Saat Nischay-3” programme for the 2025–2030 period, stating that it would accelerate development further in the coming years.
He acknowledged the support of the central government and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for backing Bihar’s growth.
“Bihar will move forward at a faster pace and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress,” he said.
Nitish Kumar added that he had decided to step down voluntarily and submitted his resignation to the Governor after a cabinet meeting. He expressed hope that the new administration would carry forward development initiatives and take the state to greater heights.
