Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has laid the foundation stone for the extension of the J.P. Ganga Path from Digha to Sherpur-Bihata, a key approach to the Koilwar Bridge, signalling a major push to improve connectivity across Patna district. The 35.65 km project, estimated at Rs 6,495.79 crore, aims to link the city more effectively to the Patna-Ara-Buxar National Highway (NH-922), the Purvanchal Expressway, and the Ara-Mohania National Highway (NH-319), while easing traffic on the Danapur-Chitnawan-Maneer Road.
Speaking at the ceremony in Digha, CM Nitish emphasised the importance of timely completion and high-quality construction, noting that the project would simplify access to educational institutions such as the National Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, as well as the Bihata Airport.

In addition to the Ganga Path extension, the chief minister unveiled foundation stones for five other road projects across Bihar, covering 225.475 km and costing approximately Rs 2,900 crore. These include:
- Dhoreya-English More-Asarganj road (Banka, Munger, Bhagalpur) – 58.47 km, Rs 650.51 crore
- Hathauri-Orahi high-level bridge with approach roads (Muzaffarpur) – 21.3 km, Rs 814.22 crore
- Ara-Ekouna-Khaira-Sahara road (Bhojpur) – 32.26 km, Rs 373.56 crore
- Chapra-Manjhi-Darauli-Guthni road (Chapra, Siwan) – 72.18 km, Rs 701.26 crore
- Banganga-Jethian-Gahlaot Bindas road (Nawada, Nalanda, Gaya) – 41.25 km, Rs 361.32 crore
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Road Construction Minister Nitin Navin, senior bureaucrats including Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, and other officials from the state administration.
CM Nitish’s initiative underscores the state government’s focus on infrastructure development to reduce congestion, enhance regional connectivity, and support economic growth in Bihar.
