Patna: Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar made an unannounced visit to the party’s state headquarters in Patna on Monday morning to review preparations for the launch of the JD(U)’s new Janata Darbar programme.
The initiative, aimed at strengthening direct communication between the party and the public, will see ministers and senior JD(U) leaders hear grievances from citizens at the party office and attempt to address them on the spot.
During his visit, Nitish Kumar inspected the arrangements for the public hearing sessions, including seating plans for ministers, facilities for visitors and the designated room where complaints will be heard. Party officials briefed him on the operational setup and logistics for the programme.
Several senior leaders are expected to participate in the Janata Darbar, including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, minister Sheela Kumari Mandal and minister Bulo Mandal.
As Nitish Kumar left the premises, reporters questioned him about his son, Nishant Kumar, but the chief minister declined to comment. He folded his hands in greeting and quietly departed without responding.
The launch of the Janata Darbar at the JD(U) headquarters comes amid the party’s efforts to project a more active organisational image following recent political developments in Bihar. Through the initiative, the party hopes to strengthen its outreach and reconnect directly with the public at the grassroots level.
JD(U) leaders said the programme is intended to ensure that people’s complaints are heard promptly and addressed more effectively. Political observers will now be watching closely to see whether the initiative helps the party consolidate public support ahead of future political contests in Bihar.
