Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna, calling it a landmark step in promoting scientific learning and innovation in Bihar. He was joined at the ceremony by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Education Minister Sumit Kumar Singh, and Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj.
Developed jointly by the Building Construction Department and the Department of Science and Technology, the Science City has been built in memory of former president and renowned scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Officials described it as an important centre not only for Bihar but for the entire eastern region of India.

The sprawling complex houses five dedicated galleries — Be a Scientist, Biological Science, Children’s Activity, Invention, and Adventure Island — with a total of 269 interactive exhibits designed to allow students to engage directly with scientific concepts. A 4D theatre and auditorium, equipped with modern technology, will offer immersive experiences, while a specially designed science tunnel takes visitors on a visual journey through the universe and space science.
“The goal is to ignite scientific curiosity among children and young people, encouraging them to think, experiment and innovate,” said an official of the Department of Science and Technology.

Beyond educational tours, the Science City is expected to provide a platform for research, experimentation, and demonstrations, creating what officials described as “the largest laboratory for science education” in eastern India.
