Bagaha/Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects in Valmikinagar, West Champaran, while also reviewing ongoing works related to irrigation and tourism.
During the visit, Nitish inspected the restoration work of the Don Canal branch service road, where officials said around 80% of the project has been completed. He directed authorities to expedite the remaining work, noting the canal’s importance for irrigation and its benefits for farmers in the region.
The chief minister also reviewed progress on the Luv-Kush Eco-Tourism Park, located near the Gandak dam reservoir, where officials briefed him on facilities being developed for visitors. He visited the Water Resources Department guest house and the Valmikinagar Eco-Park, and assessed conditions at the Gandak barrage.
Nitish laid the foundation stone for the Eco-Tourism Centre at Valmikinagar under the Valmiki Tiger Reserve and inaugurated vulture conservation centres at Gonouli and Chiutaha.
He also flagged off jungle safari vehicles, saying the initiative would improve tourist access and enhance the visitor experience.
Officials said Valmikinagar is being developed as a key eco-tourism destination, with multiple projects underway to boost tourism and local livelihoods.
Senior ministers, legislators and officials from the departments of environment, tourism and water resources were present during the visit.
