Supaul: An intensive vehicle checking campaign carried out in the Nirmali police station area of Supaul has sparked concern among local motorists, as police collected ₹2.72 lakh in fines from 68 vehicles over a span of just two days. The crackdown, aimed at curbing crime and improving road safety, is being led by Nirmali SHO Siyawar Mandal.
According to SHO Mandal, ₹1.09 lakh was collected in fines from 28 vehicles till late Saturday night, while another ₹1.64 lakh was collected from 40 vehicles by 4 pm on Sunday. “The campaign is focused on ensuring that drivers follow road safety norms and carry all valid documents,” he said.
Thorough Document Checks and Awareness Drive
During the campaign, police rigorously inspected essential documents such as driving licenses, insurance papers, vehicle registrations, and verified helmet use among two-wheeler riders. Officers also used the opportunity to educate the public about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, including wearing helmets and seat belts.
Key Intersections Turned into Checking Points
Prominent traffic intersections such as Ambedkar Chowk, Sipahi Chowk, Mahua Chowk, and Jarauli Dhala were turned into active checking zones at various intervals. A large team of officers, including Sub-Inspector Vikas Kumar, was deployed to carry out the drive efficiently.
Campaign to Continue
SHO Siyawar Mandal emphasized that the vehicle checking campaign will continue in the coming days. “Those flouting traffic norms will face strict action. We urge the public to always carry valid documents and follow safety rules for their own protection,” he said.
