Bhagalpur: RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday kickstarted his Bihar Assembly Election 2025 campaign from the Kahalgaon Assembly constituency in Bhagalpur district. Addressing a large gathering at Madhya Vidyalaya Birnaudh in Goradih, Tejashwi announced that under his proposed Mai-Bahin Yojana, every woman in Bihar will receive a lump sum of ₹30,000 in January if the Grand Alliance comes to power.
The event was organized to support the candidature of Rajnish Yadav, son of Jharkhand minister Sanjay Yadav, who will contest from Kahalgaon on an RJD ticket. The rally marked the formal beginning of Tejashwi’s statewide outreach campaign ahead of the 2025 polls.
Tejashwi Attacks Nitish Kumar, BJP
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP, Tejashwi said, “Paltu Chacha ka hum samman karte hain, par unhone kya kiya, ye pura Bihar jaanta hai.” He accused Nitish of losing control over his government, saying, “Now he is in an unconscious state, and the BJP has hijacked him.”
Tejashwi urged voters to decide whether they want “a young and visionary Chief Minister” or a leader “who has surrendered to the BJP.” He also outlined his party’s vision based on the ‘Panchsutra’ of irrigation, education, medicine, revenue, and action, promising an administration focused on development and employment.
‘Bihar Needs to Move Forward, Not Turn Around’
Taking a dig at both the state and central governments, Tejashwi said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in power at the Centre for 11 years and Nitish Kumar has ruled Bihar for 20 years, yet not a single factory has been set up in Bihar. They only seek victory from Bihar but set up industries in Gujarat.”
He reiterated that his politics will focus on jobs and progress, declaring, “Bihar does not have to turn around—it needs to move forward.”
Liquor Ban and Corruption Under Fire
Criticizing the implementation of the liquor ban, Tejashwi remarked, “In Bihar, it’s called prohibition, but in reality, liquor home delivery is flourishing.” He further alleged that the government is involved in a ₹70,000 crore scam, which he claimed is “bigger than the Srijan scam,” citing a CAG report and accusing authorities of inaction.
‘After November 14, People Will Be Kingmakers’
Tejashwi declared that the Grand Alliance government would bring real change and empower citizens, saying, “After November 14, every person in Bihar will become a kingmaker.”
Campaign with New Energy and Strategy
Political observers say Tejashwi’s Kahalgaon rally signals a new, aggressive strategy by the RJD-led Grand Alliance against the Nitish-BJP coalition. By backing young candidate Rajnish Yadav, Tejashwi has also emphasized his focus on youth and fresh leadership.
With this rally, Tejashwi Yadav has effectively launched his 2025 campaign, attempting to position himself as the face of a young, progressive Bihar challenging two decades of the Nitish-led establishment.
