Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation has accelerated street-light repairs and ordered the installation of 10,000 to 15,000 new lights across the city ahead of Durga Puja.
The move follows a meeting between Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena and EESL, the agency responsible for street-light maintenance. The corporation has directed the agency to address complaints about non-functional lights promptly, with a focus on clearing pending complaints before the festival.
Repair Teams Increased
The number of teams working on street-light inspection and repairs has been increased from 18 to 26. The additional teams are expected to help identify defective lights and complete repairs more quickly across different localities.
The teams are inspecting faulty lights and taking action to repair or replace them where required.
Corporation Electricians Join Inspections
Five Municipal Corporation electricians, along with their assistants, have also been deployed for inspections across Patna.
They are checking defective street lights and coordinating necessary repairs or replacements as part of the city’s preparations for the festival.
Up To 15,000 New Lights Ordered
The corporation has issued orders for 10,000 to 15,000 new street lights to be provided before Durga Puja. The new units will be used to replace defective lights and those that require frequent repairs.
The initiative is aimed at improving illumination on major roads and in other important areas during the festival period.
High-Mast Lights At 33 Locations
Installation of high-mast lights has also been completed at 33 locations in Patna. These lights are designed to illuminate larger areas and are expected to support lighting arrangements at crowded and key locations.
The corporation’s preparations now include repairs of existing lights, deployment of additional inspection teams, installation of new street lights and completion of high-mast lighting works ahead of Durga Puja.
