Patna: The Azad Samta Party (Kanshiram) and the Bhim Army organised an ‘Adhikar March’ in Patna on Saturday, with protesters marching from Gandhi Maidan towards Lok Bhawan to press for a series of demands.
Security was tightened across the capital ahead of the march, with barricades installed around Gandhi Maidan and additional deployments made at key locations, including the Chief Minister’s residence, Lok Bhawan, Income Tax Crossing and Dakbungalow Crossing.
Protesters climb barricades
A large number of protesters gathered near Gate No. 10 of Gandhi Maidan and attempted to proceed with the march. Some protesters climbed onto the barricades as police personnel tried to prevent them from moving forward.
A three-tier security arrangement was put in place near Gandhi Maidan. Police personnel deployed near JP Golambar also urged protesters to turn back.
The march was led by Azad Samta Party state president Jauhar Azad. Protesters raised slogans against the government during the demonstration.
Key demands include 85% domicile policy
The protesters are demanding a judicial inquiry into the 70th BPSC examination and strict action against the BPSC chairman.
Another major demand is the implementation of an 85% domicile policy in all government recruitments in Bihar, aimed at ensuring greater preference for candidates from the state.
In view of the march and the possibility of further movement by protesters, security arrangements have been strengthened at several sensitive points across Patna.
Police and administrative officials are maintaining a close watch on the situation as the protesters seek to press their demands through the demonstration.
