Patna: Villages falling within the proposed Pataliputra Township will be able to retain their original identity while benefiting from the modern infrastructure planned for the new urban development, according to the Urban Development Department’s plan.
The proposed township will include facilities such as wide roads, uninterrupted power supply, drainage networks, parks, schools and hospitals. Villages whose residents choose to preserve their existing identity will also be integrated with the township’s planned connectivity and civic infrastructure.
The government plans to acquire land from 273 villages across nine blocks for the township’s 3,008-acre core area. The department has said the interests of villagers and landowners will be protected during the process.
Social Impact Assessment before land acquisition
A Social Impact Assessment (SIA) will be conducted before land acquisition to understand the status of local residents, families and the social fabric of the affected villages.
The assessment will cover Punpun, Naubatpur, Masaurhi, Fatuha, Sampatchak, Patna Rural, Dhanrua, Daniyawan and Phulwari blocks.
The District Magistrate will also be involved in the process. The study will examine the potential impact of land acquisition on affected families, their livelihoods, social structures and local resources.
The government has decided to undertake the SIA in detail to ensure greater transparency in the land acquisition process and develop a clearer understanding of the lives and circumstances of local residents.
