Patna: Police have recovered 11 bottles of foreign liquor from a scooty parked near the blood bank at AIIMS Patna, in an incident that has cast doubt on security arrangements at one of Bihar’s most important hospitals.
Acting on a tip-off, TOP in-charge Munna Paswan led a police team to the site on Wednesday. On spotting the officers, the suspect abandoned the scooty — bearing registration BR01HM/2320 — and fled. A search of the vehicle’s trunk revealed the liquor bottles, which were seized along with the two-wheeler before the Phulwarisharif police station was informed.
Police are now working to trace the owner using registration records and to determine the intended recipients of the consignment within the hospital campus. CCTV footage from the blood bank and surrounding areas is being examined, and hospital staff, patient relatives and nearby shopkeepers are being questioned.
The seizure comes despite Bihar’s blanket prohibition on alcohol and has prompted concerns over law enforcement in sensitive and crowded areas of the capital. Officers say arrests are likely soon.
