Patna: Passengers at Patna Airport faced a day of uncertainty and long waits on Wednesday as a series of operational and technical issues severely disrupted IndiGo’s flight schedule. Delays stretched for hours, routes were cancelled without warning, and tempers ran high as communication faltered.
Flights on the Hyderabad and Mumbai routes were among the worst affected. The 11.05am Hyderabad service departed nearly four hours late, while the 2.55pm flight to Mumbai took off after a staggering delay of 6 hours and 28 minutes.
Cancellations added to the turmoil. Three flights to Delhi were pulled from the day’s schedule — including an 11.50am service that was rescheduled multiple times before being scrapped — as well as an afternoon flight to Ghaziabad.
Long delays rippled across other major routes too. Bengaluru-bound passengers endured hours of waiting: the 11.30am flight left 2 hours and 30 minutes behind schedule, while the 5.55pm departure was delayed by 32 minutes. The 1.25pm service to Pune ran almost an hour late.
Even the Kolkata route, which usually experiences fewer disruptions, was not spared. The noon flight took off 56 minutes late, and the 4pm departure was delayed by 1 hour and 24 minutes.
Elsewhere, an IndiGo flight to Ahmedabad at 7.40pm was pushed back by more than two hours, while the 5.45pm service to Chennai departed 20 minutes late.
With schedules shifting constantly through the day, passengers crowded terminal waiting areas, many expressing frustration at the lack of timely updates from the airline. Several said they missed connecting flights due to the cascading delays.
Airport officials attributed the disruptions to “technical and operational issues” affecting the airline. By evening, as delays continued to mount, the day-long chaos had left many travellers exhausted and searching for alternative arrangements.
