Patna: The Bihar government has given the green light to a major project that promises to change the look and feel of Patna’s Bankipur Bus Stand. Chief minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet on Friday approved the construction of a five-star hotel at the busy complex. The project will be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, with Kolkata-based SARGA Hotel Private Limited taking charge of the development. The estimated cost is around Rs 186 million.
According to officials, the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has already completed the tender process. The chosen company will receive a lease of 3.24 acres of land for 90 years to carry out the construction. As part of the agreement, the investor will have to pay the minimum registered value of the land, along with interest, spread over 11 years. In addition, an annual license premium of Rs 186 million will be required.
The government believes this project will give tourism in Bihar a new boost. Equipped with world-class facilities, the hotel will provide high-quality services for both domestic and international visitors. Authorities say that such a facility in the heart of the state capital will attract more tourists, improve Bihar’s image, and contribute to the state’s economy.
Another important aspect of the project is employment. The tourism department has highlighted that the hotel will open up fresh opportunities for local residents, from hospitality and management jobs to maintenance and services. By creating these opportunities, the government hopes to support local communities while raising Bihar’s standing as a modern and welcoming destination.
