Patna: A major junction in Patna has been redesigned with new lighting, landscaping and public messaging, as part of a wider urban beautification effort led by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation.
The overhaul of the Boring Road Crossing covers around 3,500 square feet, where a 15ft solar-powered palm tree structure has been installed to illuminate the area at night. The fixture, sourced from Jaipur, uses a 500-watt bulb and runs entirely on solar energy.
Pathways around the intersection have been relaid using limestone brought from Rajasthan, a move officials say is aimed at improving both durability and visual appeal.
A “green wall” has also been developed across 500 square feet at the rear of a nearby Shiva temple, following renovation work that included repairs, repainting and new flooring. Around 2,500 plants have been installed in the vertical garden, supported by a drip irrigation system designed to distribute water evenly at the push of a switch.
The project also includes the installation of a new stainless steel fountain, replacing an older structure at the site. The fountain, procured from Delhi, features a cobra-shaped design and forms the centrepiece of the revamped crossing.
Additional features include façade lighting across the area and a signboard carrying the slogan “Mera Patna, Meri Jawabdehi” (My Patna, My Responsibility). A police booth previously located at the junction has been repositioned slightly forward and refurbished as part of the redesign.
