Patna: With the Chhath festival just days away, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ramped up preparations across all ghats in the city, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-lit environment for devotees.
Under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, teams of engineers, administrators, and sanitation workers are working around the clock to complete infrastructure and safety arrangements. The corporation is focusing on sanitation, waste management, lighting, and crowd control to provide a hassle-free experience to worshippers.

Intensive Work Across Danapur Ghats
In the Danapur region, major ghats including Jahaj Ghat (near Bata), Ramji Chak School Ghat, Ramji Chak Ghat, Ramji Chak Bata Ghat, Chayanpur Kothi Ghat, and Ramji Chak Nahar Ghat are being equipped with essential facilities.
Each ghat is being provided with temporary changing rooms, control rooms, watchtowers, and lighting arrangements — including 61 high-mast light towers — to ensure that devotees can perform their rituals safely after dusk.
All construction, including sheds, control rooms, and towers, is in its final phase.
Focus on Cleanliness, Lighting, and Safety
PMC has completed mud clearance, desilting, and waste management at all ghats. Access roads have been fitted with lighting, temporary toilets, and drinking water units (Nir dispensers) for public convenience.
The corporation is also conducting anti-larvae and disinfectant spraying drives to control mosquito breeding.
To maintain safety, CCTV surveillance has been deployed for continuous monitoring of crowd movement and cleanliness. PMC teams are working in close coordination with police, disaster management, and health departments to ensure smooth operations.
“Our priority is to ensure that every devotee can perform the rituals of Chhath Puja in a clean, safe, and well-managed environment,” said Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena.
