Patna: A 10-year-old boy, the son of a businessman, was abducted in Patna’s Gardanibagh area on Friday evening, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his release. The child was later recovered unharmed following swift police action.
According to police reports, the boy, son of Sonu Kumar, was standing near a temple close to his home when he was abducted by a group of men. Eyewitnesses claimed the perpetrators gagged the child with a towel before fleeing in a car.
The family launched a frantic search and received a ransom call around 9pm from an unidentified number, threatening harm if the payment was not made. The incident was immediately reported to the police.
Following a technical investigation, police teams began targeted raids. Fearing capture, the kidnappers abandoned the child near Bapu Tower and fled. The boy was safely rescued shortly afterwards.
The Secretariat Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dr Annu Kumari, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. “The child has reportedly identified two of the kidnappers, and further enquiries are underway,” she said.
