Patna: A shocking kidnapping in broad daylight caused panic in Patna on Sunday when a young student was forcibly taken away near the Patliputra Sports Complex, close to the Kankarbagh police station. The incident happened in a busy area, making it even more alarming for local residents. Many people were stunned that such a crime could take place so close to a police station, raising concerns about public safety in the city.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Sumit Kumar, was standing near the sports complex when several unknown men arrived on motorcycles and in a car. They suddenly grabbed him, pushed him into a vehicle and sped away. Fortunately, a young man living in a nearby slum witnessed the entire incident. Without wasting time, he informed the Kankarbagh police, which helped officers act quickly and begin their search for the kidnappers.

After receiving the alert, police teams immediately started tracking the suspects using CCTV cameras installed across the city. Based on the footage, officers followed the movement of the vehicles involved in the crime. This led to a tense chase through different parts of Patna that lasted for nearly two hours. Police vehicles tried to block the kidnappers from all sides, turning the operation into a citywide effort to save the victim.

The chase finally ended in the Bahadurpur area, where police managed to surround the suspects. Seeing no way out, the kidnappers abandoned Sumit Kumar near a garden and escaped from the spot. Police soon reached the area and rescued the young man safely. He was shaken but unharmed, bringing great relief to his family and to residents who had been closely following the developments.

Sumit later told the police that the kidnapping might be linked to an argument that happened about 10 days earlier at a tea stall, where a minor incident led to a heated exchange with some young men. He believes the same group may have planned the abduction to take revenge. However, police officials said the exact reason is still not clear. ASP Sadar Abhinav Kumar confirmed that a motorcycle used by the kidnappers has been recovered and efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the accused.
