Patna: Patna has seen a major decline in dengue cases this year, thanks to the active efforts of the Health Department. According to official figures, 743 dengue patients have been identified so far in 2025, compared to 1,303 cases reported by the same date last year. This is a 42% drop, bringing much-needed relief to health officials and residents.
Civil Surgeon Dr Avinash Kumar Singh said that this year the department worked more carefully and launched a strong campaign to control dengue. Fogging is being done across the city and in rural areas to kill mosquitoes. Health workers are visiting houses to check for mosquito larvae and are using special chemicals to prevent breeding. Dr Singh expressed hope that the number of patients will stay low for the rest of the season.
The zonal data shows Nutan Rajdhani has reported the highest number of cases with 272 patients, followed by Bankipur with 225 and Patliputra with 130. Other areas like Kankarbagh, Azimabad and City zone reported 49, 48 and 19 cases respectively. Officials are also focusing on public awareness. They are asking people to keep their surroundings clean, remove stagnant water from pots and coolers, and prevent waterlogging near their houses.
Hospitals have been instructed to stay prepared to treat dengue patients. Beds and medicines are available in district hospitals and big hospitals like Nalanda Medical College, AIIMS and PMCH. Platelet supplies are also available in case patients need them. The Health Department says the fall in dengue cases is the result of teamwork and cooperation between the administration and the public.
