Patna: In one of the most significant drug-related crackdowns in recent months, Patna Police and the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) carried out a coordinated raid on Friday, seizing 58kg of illegal cannabis, 6,340 narcotic tablets, Rs. 15,66,900 in cash and six mobile phones.
The raid was conducted near Changer Mor in the Ramkrishnanagar police station area following what officials described as “highly credible intelligence”.
A carefully planned operation
According to investigators, the operation was executed after officers received a tip-off about a suspected stash house. Once the police team breached the premises, they discovered a large cache of narcotics and cash concealed inside.
Senior officials believe the seized items point to a well-organised trafficking network that had been operating in Patna and surrounding districts for an extended period.
“The joint action was carried out on reliable information, and we successfully arrested six active members of the syndicate. Their activities were under close surveillance for some time,” said Parichay Kumar, East SP, Patna.
The market value of the seized cannabis is estimated to run into several lakhs, while the large quantity of “Gogo” tablets indicates widespread distribution routes, officers added.
All accused linked to one organised group
The six arrested men — Ritesh Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Raushan Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Nikhil Kumar and Anant Kumar — are all residents of Raghopur in Vaishali district.
Police say the group had been supplying narcotics across Patna city and nearby regions, and that their network is “likely wider than currently known”.
Teams are now conducting follow-up raids to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the alleged syndicate.
‘Crackdown will continue’, say officials
SP Parichay Kumar said the action marks a significant breakthrough in the city’s anti-narcotics drive and assured that more arrests are expected.
He added:
“The investigation now focuses on their past criminal records, financial channels and wider contacts. The crackdown against drug trade will continue with zero tolerance.”
