Patna: Patna’s top administrative and police officials carried out a final inspection of parade preparations for the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the historic Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday, directing teams to ensure the event proceeds without a hitch.
Commissioner of Patna Division and Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, reviewed the arrangements during the full-dress rehearsal, accompanied by the District Magistrate of Patna, the city’s Senior Superintendent of Police and other senior officers. The Commissioner stressed that the state’s main Independence Day function follows a fixed time and venue, and must strictly adhere to prescribed protocols.

“Preparations must be thorough and responsive to any changes in weather, including storms or rain,” he said, underlining the need for contingency measures.
This year’s parade will see the participation of 20 contingents, including the CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, STF, BSP-1, Sikkim Police, BSP Force-19 (Women Commandos), Bihar Police (Men), Patna Traffic Operations, Bihar Jail Police, Prohibition Police, Bihar Home Guards (Men and Women), and NCC wings from the Army, Navy and Air Force for both men and women. Scout and Guide units, the Dog Squad, Fire Brigade, band, buglers and mounted police will also take part.

Before the inspection, the Commissioner paid tribute at the Shaheed-e-Kargil memorial, laying a wreath in honour of the fallen soldiers.
