Patna: Parking vehicles at the Karbigahiya side of Patna Junction will become significantly more expensive from May 13, after the railway administration approved a sharp revision in parking charges.
The hike will particularly affect four-wheeler users, with fees in several categories more than doubling compared with existing rates.
Sharp Increase In Charges
Under the revised tariff, parking a four-wheeler for up to two hours will cost Rs 80, up from Rs 25. Charges for longer durations have also been raised steeply.
Two-wheeler users will also face higher costs, with charges nearly doubling across categories.

| Up to 2 hours | Rs 20 | Rs 80 |
| 2 to 6 hours | Rs 25 | Rs 200 |
| 6 to 12 hours | Rs 30 | Rs 350 |
| Up to 24 hours | Rs 40 | Rs 400 |
Previous Parking Rates

Free 5-Minute Window Introduced
Alongside the hike, the railways have introduced a complimentary five-minute pick-up and drop-off window for the first time. Authorities said this measure is aimed at providing relief to passengers making short stops and reducing unnecessary charges.
Push For Better Traffic Management
Railway officials said the move is part of a broader effort to streamline traffic and improve crowd management at the busy station.
Experts believe the higher charges could encourage shorter parking durations, reduce congestion and improve vehicle flow in and around the premises.
Likely Impact On Commuters
While the free pick-up window may benefit short-term visitors, the increased tariffs are expected to have a direct financial impact on regular commuters and car owners.
The railway administration has urged passengers to cooperate with the new system, stating that all preparations for implementing the revised rates have been completed.
