Patna: An unidentified man died under suspicious circumstances near Patna Junction on Saturday morning, prompting a police investigation into the cause of death.
The incident occurred in the Karbigahiya area, where the man reportedly collapsed while walking. Witnesses said he appeared to be in distress before losing consciousness.
Jakkanpur police were alerted around 6.45am and reached the scene to begin an inquiry.
CCTV captures final moments
Preliminary examination of CCTV footage shows the man walking from the direction of the railway hospital before sitting down near Karbigahiya. Moments later, he appeared to be in severe discomfort and subsequently collapsed.
A passerby informed nearby railway staff, following which the matter was reported to the Railway Protection Force. Officials and a medical team reached the spot, but the man had died by then.
Identity yet to be established
No identification documents were found on the deceased, making it difficult for authorities to establish his identity. Police said efforts are under way to identify the individual.
Jakkanpur station house officer Rituraj Kumar Singh said a case of unnatural death has been registered. The body has been sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination, and forensic teams have inspected the scene.
Police said the exact cause of death will be determined after the postmortem report is received.
