Patna: Patna police have arrested a man in possession of an illegal weapon, recovering a country-made pistol and a live cartridge, authorities said.
The arrested individual, identified as 42-year-old Jhullaf Rai, was detained following a tip-off received by Salimpur police station regarding his possession of the firearm in Bidhipur Bhojraj Sthan, Barh subdivision.
Additional Police Station Chief Udaykant Yadav said a raid team was quickly dispatched to Rai’s residence, where the weapon and ammunition were seized. “He was taken into custody immediately after the raid,” Yadav added.
A case has been registered against Rai under the Arms Act. He has been remanded in judicial custody, and further legal proceedings are underway. Police noted that two prior criminal cases were already registered against Rai at Salimpur police station.
