Patna: The Patna Metro project is gathering pace as construction intensifies on the city’s first interchange station between Khemnichak and Malahi Pakri.
Officials said the station, expected to be completed by August, would serve as the central interchange hub connecting the metro’s two major corridors and significantly ease travel across the city.
Key Link Between Two Metro Corridors
The interchange station will connect Corridor-1 and Corridor-2 of the Patna Metro network.
Under the current alignment plan, trains on Corridor-1 will operate towards Jaganpura, Mithapur and Patna Junction.
Corridor-2 trains, meanwhile, will connect Patna Junction through Malahi Pakri, Rajendra Nagar, PMCH and Gandhi Maidan.
Officials said Patna Junction itself was also being developed as a major interchange facility within the metro system.

Modern Elevated Station Taking Shape
The Khemnichak station is being designed as a fully elevated two-level structure with separate platforms and concourse areas for both corridors.
Authorities said the platform for Corridor-2 on the Malahi Pakri route was nearly complete, with metro trial runs already conducted through the section.
Construction work on Corridor-1 towards Mithapur is also progressing rapidly, with nearly half the structure completed.
The station will feature five elevators, six escalators, two entry gates and two exit gates to facilitate passenger movement.
Vehicular traffic will continue beneath the elevated structure, while metro operations will run on the upper level.
Trial Operations And Route Plans
According to officials, Corridor-2 trains will run from Malahi Pakri towards the station near Ford Hospital before looping back through Bhutnath and the New Patliputra Bus Terminal.
Corridor-1 trains arriving from the Mithapur side will reverse direction using a crossover mechanism before returning along the same route.
Officials said the interchange facility was expected to become a critical node in Patna’s expanding urban transport network as metro infrastructure work continues across the city.
