Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to expedite the expansion of the Patna Metro project and ensure early connectivity with major transport hubs including the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Patna Junction.
Chairing a review meeting of the urban development and housing, panchayati raj, and tourism departments in Patna on Monday, Choudhary instructed that the metro corridor linking Malahi Pakri to Rajendra Nagar Terminal be completed “as soon as possible” and that the extension up to Patna Junction be prioritised without delay.
Officials said the integration of the metro network with key rail and bus terminals is expected to significantly improve urban mobility in the city.
The chief minister also called for faster completion of ongoing urban infrastructure projects, stressing adherence to quality standards. He emphasised improvements in sanitation and water supply systems, and directed that housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) be completed promptly for remaining eligible beneficiaries.
Choudhary further advocated greater use of public–private partnerships in solid waste management and ordered that sewage treatment plants across the city be made fully operational. He also instructed authorities to accelerate work on treatment facilities along the Ganga and expand the sewerage network.
In addition, he directed the construction of crematoriums and “moksha dhams” at traditional cremation sites, and ordered strict monitoring of rural solar streetlights under the state scheme to ensure they remain functional. He also called for CCTV coverage in all gram panchayats.
During the meeting, senior officials provided updates on ongoing projects, including the Patna Metro, regional transport plans, and urban regulations. The Gaya district administration also presented development plans for the Mahabodhi Temple corridor in Bodh Gaya and the Vishnupad Temple corridor in Gayaji.
Senior bureaucrats including the chief secretary, principal secretaries, and district officials attended the review meeting.
