Patna: Preparations for the next phase of the Patna Metro project have gathered pace, with authorities implementing road widening and traffic management measures along Nehru Path to reduce congestion during construction.
Senior officials from the Urban Development and Housing Department, district administration, traffic police and other agencies have been holding a series of meetings to coordinate construction activities while maintaining traffic flow on one of Patna’s busiest corridors.
Alternative Route Being Developed
Officials said heavy metro construction equipment will soon be installed near Rajvanshi Nagar, requiring the closure of one lane on Nehru Path.
To minimise disruption, work has begun on an alternative traffic arrangement. A new divider has already been constructed near the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple to facilitate vehicle movement from Patel Bhawan towards Income Tax Golambar.
As part of the plan, the boundary wall of Radio Bhawan, located behind the temple, will be removed to create additional road space.
The reclaimed land will be used to widen the carriageway, allowing traffic to be diverted through a newly developed route before merging back into the main road further ahead.

Traffic Plan To Be Announced
Authorities said work on the revised traffic arrangement is progressing on priority and that a detailed traffic diversion plan will be announced before the next phase of construction begins.
The administration plans to brief the public through a press conference, providing advance information on route diversions and traffic restrictions to help commuters plan their journeys and reduce inconvenience.
The road widening and traffic management measures form part of the broader effort to facilitate the construction of underground metro infrastructure while maintaining traffic movement along Nehru Path, one of the city’s principal transport corridors.
