Patna: In a high-level review meeting held on Tuesday, Varsha Singh, Additional Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, emphasised the importance of round-the-clock monitoring and milestone achievements for the Patna Metro’s priority corridor. With the corridor scheduled to open to the public on August 15, 2025, Singh called for strict adherence to timelines, a focus on quality, and daily progress tracking.

The priority corridor, a 6.49 km elevated section of Corridor II stretching from Malahi Pakri to the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), includes five stations: Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak (an interchange station), Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and ISBT. As of now, 80% of the civil work has been completed, and engineers are in the process of laying tracks for the Bengaluru-fabricated metro trains.

In a recent development, PMRC officials held a crucial meeting with senior officials from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and the Urban Transport and High-Speed (UTHS) directorate. The discussions focused on securing final approvals essential for the metro’s launch, including aspects like track design, signal systems, electrical and overhead equipment, schedule of dimensions, and the Design Basic Report (DBR). These approvals are pivotal to ensuring the metro’s safe and efficient operation.

To expedite the project’s progress, the Urban Development and Housing Department has deployed 19 junior engineers to the Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC), comprising 11 civil, four electrical, and four mechanical engineers. This strategic move aims to fast-track ongoing work and ensure the corridor’s timely completion.
