Patna: Patna’s upcoming metro system has revealed a striking new look that celebrates the state’s cultural heritage. On Tuesday officials showcased the freshly decorated coaches, which feature saffron exteriors adorned with traditional Madhubani paintings and images of historical landmarks, including the iconic Golghar.
The metro’s design aims to combine modern transport infrastructure with a visual tribute to Bihar’s art and culture. Over the past four days, workers have applied decorative stickers across the body, gates, and windows of the coaches, highlighting both tourist attractions and the state’s artistic traditions.

The Patna Metro Rail Corporation plans to operate the first corridor connecting five stations: New Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Khemnichak, and Malahi Pakadi. Alongside the coach decoration, work on the stations’ finishing touches continues.
Officials said that operations such as stoppages, maintenance, and cleaning will be managed from the Bairia terminal complex, while the administrative building in Patna will oversee overall metro operations. Chief Minister of Bihar also visited the Zero Mile Metro Station to review progress.
