Patna: The 24th ordinary meeting of the Empowered Standing Committee of the Patna Municipal Corporation was held on Saturday under the chairpersonship of Mayor Sita Sahu. All 14 agenda items placed before the committee were approved unanimously.
Officials said the decisions focused on improving urban infrastructure, civic amenities and revenue systems across the city.
Vending Zone Rent Revised at Kadamkuan
The committee finalised monthly rent for the Kadamkuan vending zone, setting it between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 depending on the area allotted to vendors.
The revised rates will come into effect after approval from the Municipal Corporation Council. The decision is expected to streamline vending operations and ensure better regulation of designated market spaces.
Approval for High-Mast Lighting Project
A major infrastructure decision included approval for the installation of 35 high-mast lights across different parts of the city at a cost of Rs 6.62 crore.
The project will be executed in collaboration with Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. An agreement for implementation was also cleared during the meeting.
Officials said the lighting project aims to improve night-time visibility and public safety in key urban locations.
Civic Infrastructure and Waste Management Measures
The committee also approved the construction of a vending zone and a marriage hall on Municipal Corporation land at Musallahpur Haat in Ward No. 50.
To strengthen the city’s solid waste management system, procurement of hand-cart trolleys for all administrative zones was also sanctioned.
In addition, the purchase of five pump sets of varying capacities for the Nutan Rajdhani Zone was cleared to support operational requirements in civic services.
Officials present at the meeting said the approved proposals reflect ongoing efforts to upgrade civic infrastructure and improve service delivery across the city. The implementation timelines will depend on subsequent approvals and tender processes.
