Patna: In a move aimed at enhancing public safety and improving civic convenience, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a new initiative allowing residents to report stray dogs in their areas through a dedicated helpline. Citizens can now call 0621-2200634 or the toll-free number 155304 to request immediate assistance.
Following the directive of the Municipal Commissioner, the PMC has rolled out a citywide plan across all 75 wards to conduct anti-rabies vaccinations, sterilisation, and deworming of stray dogs. A specialised agency, equipped with trained veterinarians, skilled staff, modern tools, and dedicated vehicles, has been appointed to execute the operation on a regular basis.
According to the plan, the agency has been tasked with capturing at least 40 stray dogs daily. The dogs are then taken to PMC’s dedicated veterinary facility, where they undergo anti-rabies vaccination, sterilisation, deworming, and necessary medical treatment. Special care arrangements are also available for sick or injured animals.
Between 2023 and 2025, nearly 8,000 stray dogs have been sterilised under this campaign, significantly helping to control the city’s stray population. The corporation stated that the initiative will continue to ensure a safer and cleaner environment for Patna’s residents.
PMC has appealed to citizens to cooperate by promptly reporting sightings of stray dogs through the helpline numbers provided, ensuring swift action from the municipal teams.
