Patna: Preparations are ramping up across Patna’s cultural institutions ahead of January 1, with museums and science centres extending services and adding new facilities to manage a surge in visitors.
Officials at the Bihar Museum and the recently reopened Patna Museum confirmed that additional ticket counters have been installed, responding to rising footfall in the days leading up to the New Year. Ashok Sinha, additional director of the Bihar Museum, said that queues had already begun to grow and two extra counters were now operating at both venues.
The city’s science attractions are also preparing for heavy crowds. Eight daily 3D screenings will continue at the planetarium, alongside its new virtual reality theatre, which allows visitors to simulate a journey through space and is expected to be a headline draw.
At the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science Centre, tours will run in two shifts, each accommodating 1,000 visitors. Organisers say interest is high, with the centre newly opened and attracting residents and tourists alike.
Other landmarks are extending their operations to deal with the influx. Bapu Tower will increase entry slots from the usual five to six on New Year’s Day, while the Shri Krishna Science Centre has added two general counters and separate ticket points for its individual shows.
Authorities say they are confident the expanded setup will help prevent overcrowding and ensure a smooth experience for families marking the beginning of 2026 at the city’s cultural sites.
