Patna: A new housing complex for Bihar’s legislators has been completed in Patna, offering modern accommodation for MLAs elected in the 2025 state polls. The Building Construction Department (BCD) has finished 246 residential units spread across 44.41 acres within the MLA–MLC Housing Complex in the state capital.
The residences, built in multiple phases, each span roughly 3,693 sq ft. According to BCD Secretary Kumar Ravi, the allocation of homes will follow Assembly constituencies, with each unit labelled by constituency number and name.
The complex includes an MLA hostel, a canteen and a community hall, aimed at making administrative work and public outreach more efficient. Officials say the layout will allow legislators to engage more easily with visitors, hear grievances and operate their constituency offices.
A key feature of the project is its environmental design. The complex operates on a zero-discharge system, with wastewater treated for reuse in gardening. Rainwater harvesting provisions have also been installed, alongside LED street lighting to reduce power consumption. To enhance the landscape, Champa, Gulmohar and Mahogany trees have been planted across common areas.
The new government is set to be sworn in on November 20, followed by the oath-taking ceremony for MLAs. Final preparations for the transition are under way.
