Patna: Patna Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the upcoming state cabinet swearing-in ceremony to be held at Gandhi Maidan, amid the expected presence of the Prime Minister and several VVIP dignitaries.
According to officials, nearly 4,000 police personnel and around 150 police officers will be deployed across the city to maintain law and order and ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Security has been tightened along the approximately seven-kilometre stretch between Patna Airport and Gandhi Maidan. Heavy police deployment has been made at key locations including the airport area, Sheikhpura, Income Tax Golambar, Dak Bungalow Chowk, JP Golambar and Ramgulam Chowk.
Police officials said special security arrangements have been put in place at all strategic intersections and routes likely to be used by VVIP convoys.
In addition to police deployment, fire brigade teams and ambulances will remain stationed around Gandhi Maidan as part of emergency preparedness measures. Security has also been intensified in surrounding areas such as Ashok Rajpath, Chhajju Bagh, Police Lines and Exhibition Road.
As part of the high-level security protocol, security personnel will also be stationed on top of high-rise buildings surrounding Gandhi Maidan to monitor movement and prevent any untoward incident.
Authorities said CCTV cameras will be used extensively to monitor crowds and activities across the venue, while strict checking and screening will be conducted at all entry gates to the ground.
The enhanced security arrangements come amid heightened vigilance for the high-profile political event in the Bihar capital.
