Patna: Patna’s property owners have been granted a temporary reprieve on pending municipal taxes, with the Patna Municipal Corporation announcing a full 100% waiver of interest and penalties on outstanding property tax dues. The scheme, launched on November 28, allows taxpayers to settle their entire dues by paying only the principal amount in a single payment.
The Bihar Municipal Property Tax Incentive Interest and Penalty Waiver Scheme-2025 will run until March 31, 2026 and is applicable to all categories of property—including residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional holdings. The relief also extends to properties owned by the state and central government.
Officials have clarified that even taxpayers with cases pending in court or tribunal can benefit from the scheme, provided they submit written proof of case withdrawal. Property owners whose holdings have not yet been self-assessed can participate as well, with assessments conducted according to the municipal standards.
The municipal corporation has urged citizens to take advantage of the one-time settlement option, warning that any false information or concealment of facts could result in revocation of the exemption and further action.
Payments can be made online via the official portal, through a WhatsApp chatbot, or directly at Patna Municipal Corporation offices, simplifying the process for residents seeking to regularise their property tax dues.
